Clement is wrong.  He is envisioning an all or nothing event which is essentially unheard of.  The immune system is capable of localized responses and similarly inducing localized diseases based on localized or organ target specific responses.  The in vitro and in vivo evidence is enough for me to say, on this, he is completely wrong.
