Re: Lime water for Aquarium Use, Scientific

good! I'm curious to know what the light was... actually I only skimmed the article, but that part about it bringing the PH back down when combined with vinegar confused me, because I thought the point of mixing the two in the drink was to raise PH, but maybe it acts differently when ingested. I saw a naturopath a number of years ago who told me that drinking apple cider vinegar & water on an empty stomach, even though it' an acid, will have an alkalizing effect due to a chemical reaction with digestive juices in the stomach or something. Truthfully, I didn't understand that, either. I must admit I found that article on a search for more info about pickling lime, because I'm still having trouble getting my head around why it's OK to ingest, even though I know it's used in food production (I don't trust a lot of what's approved in food production, as I know that things deemed "safe" are often not - look at hydrogenated oil, as one example). They also mentioned in that article something about cadmium and aluminum from the pickling lime being contaminated/not pure, but maybe they're not talking about food grade, though there's a photo of a particular brand in the article that appears to be food grade.

The other thing I'm wondering about is do people have to take this drink indefinitely, or just initially on an alkalizing protocol? I have a friend on a cancer diet with heavy duty juicing, mostly veggies, mostly raw for over 3 years now, and she feels great, good digestion, no gas, etc., but she's still showing up with an acid PH.

Anyway, this probably sounds silly if you're a science-oriented person, it's all pretty far out of my knowledge base.
