Re: I'm not convinced that men & women...
Expectations are killers but they are human, don't you think? Hard not to have expectations with everything. I think you have to be someone who is the quintessencial hang loose kind of person not to have them. How many people do you know that are like that? Most people I know are sort of wired a bit tight, even if outwardly they don't appear so.
My husband of 25 years said it wasn't high expectations that was the momentum for us, it was the lowered expectations that made our continued success. I know that's a joke, but I wonder?
But I know people that say "I'll never live with anyone" and then one day BAM, they meet someone and the momentum just carries them away, good, bad or indifferent. Can happen anytime at any age. May not happen.
It's my friends that "overthink" their relationships that seem to have the biggest problems. They are forcing the situation instead of waiting for that momentum. End up being in semi-long term relationships that eventually die off....
I feel blessed. My husband's and my philosophy is, laugh a lot, don't take things too seriously, drama is not allowed...Oh, we've had our shares of ups and downs, but it's those lowered expectations that have been the glue that binds (LOL)
