Every candida book I've read talks about probiotics as part of your treatment protocol while doing other things - diet, prescription anti-fungals, supplements, etc.
I'm currently on nystatin and I take a powdered probiotic supplement, but I make sure I space them out. I take the nystatin first and the probiotics at least 20-30 minutes later.
I have read if your gut is extremely inflamed, probiotics might be irritating.
