Re: Many Catholic Vegetarians believe they are
following Jesus' nonviolent diet
Since biblical text is being quoted, I'll just add this bit:
Acts 9
9 Peter's Vision The next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray.
10 And he became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance
11 and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth.
12 In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air.
13 And there came a voice to him: "Rise, Peter; kill and eat."
14 But Peter said, "By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean."
15 And the voice came to him again a second time, "What God has made clean, do not call common."
16 This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.
Now some say this only means Peter was to speak to Gentiles, a thing that the religious at the time would kick you out of the Synagogue for considering. If God could make Gentiles clean, why not food? Are we so smart that we know better than God what is clean, what is unclean, and what is common? Some in your post have had a few years of concentrated study in the scriptures, and some a lifetime of service to God and man. But of all these, how many have walked with God for 300 years, and how many would really know just what God was talking about with all the tidbits that we disect from scripture to make most Christian persons lives a living hell? Most of your quoted writers haven't spent 3 years walking with God (walking mean having conversations, that means talking and LISTENING with God). Dogma and doctrines are man's guess at what God meant-I'll stick to asking and waiting for God to tell ME what HE wants ME to do, and take it from there. All the messages and teaching we have received from God and Jesus over the last few years is mostly just for us, not others. Lots of others have mistaken this and what was a good idea for them has turned into rules for all others.
Bad ideas. Lets spend our time teaching others how to listen to God and Jesus, and also how to follow the directions given them.
