Re: Just now learning about essential oils
Hi 81167,
I have not used essential oils from this company. I did go take a look at their web site after reading your post.
Two things I noticed right away. All of their essential oils are in a carrier or base oil (grapeseed). This means that you are not purchasing a 100% essential oil product. I could not find anywhere that information is given as to how much essential oil the product contains or if their essential oils are of a perfume/aromatherapy-grade or a therapeutic-grade. When purchasing essential oils for therapeutic / health benefits it is important to buy essential oils that are from organic plants that are steam distilled using low pressure and low temperature for the proper amount of time. You want to ask for information on the source (origin) of the essential oil and its purity. Ask what compounds are in the oil and their percentages.
If they can not answer these questions odds are the products they are offering are a perfume/aroma-grade and are best used for aroma use, not therapeutic benefits.
Many essential oils being sold have been cut and/or distilled using chemical processes and/or have not come from organic or wildcrafted plants. These oils do not have the compounds or the purity that you are looking for to obtain health benefits.
There is a lot of creative marketing of essential oil products so you need to do some research before buying. From what I saw when I visited their web site, it was filled with marketing (testimonials) and NOTHING on the quality or sources for the essential oils.
Example of their marketing:
2
oz. bottle of unrefined grapeseed oil, with a list of several different essential oils added.
They do not give any information or how much essential oil is in that bottle of grapeseed oil. You may be buying 1 drop of essential oil to 2
ounces of grapeseed oil. There is nothing about where they get their essential oils from or how the raw plants are processed.
My advice to you is to take the time to research a company before buying.
As for your question concerning your daughter and hormone balancing using essential oils. Essential oils can be of help balancing homones. I have not personally used them for this purpose. I do not know what PCOS stands for. I would be happy to do some research on what essential oils would be helpful for this condition if you give me the name of her condition.
***EDIT***
I did a quick google search and found: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
When I have a chance I will do some research on essential oils that would offer benefit/help with this condition.
I think if you take a few minutes and read some of my posts you may find some useful information and a better understanding of how therapeutic-grade essential oils can be used for different health issues such as your daughter's.
