I'm in trouble here though (except with Shelley) because (a) I question and (b) I believe that a marriage of mainstream and alternative medicines is essential for the well being of all.
The slogan of this site is "Educating not Medicating", but - where I live (France) many of the remedies cited here as "alternatives to medication" are prescribed by doctors and paid for by the national health service.
To me this clearly shows the need for cooperation between mainstream and natural practioners. Otherwise you end up with the ludicrous situation whereby aloe vera, gingko bilboa etc etc are either viewed as BAD BAD BAD because a "real" doctor prescribed them, or GOOD GOOD GOOD because an ND said "take them".
