Re: Not getting any muscles...Why?
Egg whites, nuts, beans, tofu, cottage cheese, etc. There are many protein options for vegetarians. As far as working out, you should probably shoot more for 10-12 reps of an exercise each set, using an appropriate weight/resistance. Go for 4-5 sets of an exercise. Sit ups will strengthen your abdominal muscles but it's always the last area for fat to disappear from. Good diet and aerobic exercise are the only ways to get rid of that extra tire, you can do a million situps a day and it will only help the muscles get stronger but they'll be hidden under the fat still. If you are getting older, it becomes harder and harder to tone your body like you used to and your body will change from what you're accustommed. Finally there's nothing wrong with being a vegetarian, but it's kind of silly to use animal cruelty as a motivation. If instead of meat from cows pigs and chickens we got them from sharks, insects, and worms, would you have the same problem? Animals that aren't cute and cuddly are killed every second of your existence. Stepping on ants, spraying roaches, swatting a mosquito, washing your hands, boiling your water...
