It is always sad when a friendship ends due to someone "moving on". At my age I deeply regret not keeping in touch with a number of people who drifted through my life...but I was young and didn't realize how precious they were.

If I were you I would do my best to keep in touch with her. Be honest, and tell her you miss her without gushing or being demanding. Just let her know you love her and that you care. She may be distracted and not even realize what she is doing. Try to keep her address on file and write to her once in awhile once she leaves. Prehaps she will not respond, but if you can look back and know that you did what you could to keep your frienship alive...well that is the best you can do. At any rate, make sure she knows that your door is always open should she need it, no matter where her head and heart is now.
