Here's an example of just one major class of diseases (once uniformly fatal) in which cures are now commonplace - leukemias.

As far as elimination of once common (debilitating and/or fatal) diseases through better nutrition, vaccination and Antibiotics , does it really make a difference that these advances work together with the body's natural ability to heal? Without them, we'd have a great deal more illness and death (as in the "good old days"). They're still a type of cure.

I'm certainly wary of claims made for new pharmaceutical drugs, given the potential for unknown side effects, expense and so on. The same goes for products pushed by the multibillion dollar supplement industry, where there's far less evidence that they work. As far as I'm concerned the supplement dealers are just another form of Big Pharma, only less ethical. Adams (Mr. "Declare Your Independence from Failed Health Care") wants us to uniformly disregard evidence-based medicine and put blind trust in alternative practitioners and supplement companies - who haven't showed us that they deserve that trust.
