DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide): Urgent research needed
I put together a letter which I sent to all my state and fed reps.
DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) has decades of positive research with thousands of studies proving its health-promoting properties.
A huge potential treatment modality for DMSO is Closed Head Trauma. This trauma has taken on epidemic levels as soldiers return home from a 5 year war with IRAQ. Small, preliminary trials, wherein DMSO given to brain injury patients in Europe have had a survival rate of 80% (more than twice the average 35%) and favorable outcome rates of 70% - compared to historical rates of 10%.

Astonishingly the FDA has not approved any significant treatment for traumatic brain injury in decades.
DMSO shows promise in other areas as well: Alzheimer's,
Arthritis (imagine no Vioxx or Celebrex fiascos), tendonitis, Reflex sympathetic dystrophy, scleroderma and more. It has shown tremendous benefits when given intravenously within 45 minutes after a spinal cord injury. Imagine fewer long-term care patients.
DMSO research and fast tracking by the FDA is essential in some areas. We need more state and federal funding for research as DMSO cannot be patented - so Pharmaceutical companies have stayed away. We owe all Americans, and our soldiers especially, access to this inexpensive and non-toxic multi faceted health promoter. I urge you to draft bills directing further research into the health promoting properties of this renewable product.
