If the water turns cloudy grey you have some type of contamination. Yellow is still considered good but not the smallest particles possible. The smallest particles possible is a clear in color.

Heat increases conductivity and gets the reaction going faster. So you might not be running the machine long enough. Try at least 2 hours. 20 mA is faster but may not produce the smallest particle size.
