Re: Outbreak free for ten months!

Dear Hugo,
I sincerely apologize for neglecting this thread for so long - I apparently didn't have "subscribe to the thread" turned on. A big thanks, Hugo, for the info about the harmlessness of aciclovir - it's very good to know that. Nevertheless, I will continue to take one tablet five to six days a week and not every day. If I'm feeling particularly good because I've been a good boy about diet and sleep I skip a day. If I'm doing a one to five day fast (about twice a year) I don't take any tablets for the duration and have never had an outbreak during one.

An aside: A year and a half ago, before I started taking aciclovir, I fell head over heals for a woman and we had about five months of bliss (before she dumped me), but I didn't have a single outbreak during that time, so in my original post I was incorrect in saying four months was my record. How did I do it? Well, I behaved myself because I didn't want to have an outbreak while being with her. I only allowed myself two cups of coffee on each of my day's off, Sunday and Wednesday. On work days I drank Japanese green tea, which is alkaline and much easier on the body. I was also taking maca and ginseng at the same time for my libido and overall stamina, reduced recovery time from exercise, and immune function. It was a bit over the top, perhaps, but I wanted to "make sure" I would be alright in bed. Now I alternate - maca one day and ginseng the next - and the libido is working quite well for my age (46)and I have lots of energy for sports. I was also quite happy during that period so my stress level was lower than usual. My stress level is probably even lower now because I don't work anymore (except to watch my stocks) and living in Thailand is pretty easy going. I am almost never tired because I can sleep eight hours almost any time I want. Stay up too late? Big deal - sleep in. So one might say that lower stress has contributed to my success (along with the healthy Thai food) and it might be a factor, but not a big one because now that I think about it, I had an outbreak a couple of outbreaks in my first half year here before I started taking the aciclovir tablets. Well, that's enough rambling from me for now. All the best.
