variations in dosage/iodine loading test

"I know V has quoted some hi dosage but for the normal guy, (each is different), 3-4 drops is fine-"

I think that's right. Although I might be perceived as word-mincing, keep in mind that I've quoted MD's, who have detailed amounts they have given to their patients, which in some cases might be interpreted as being high amounts. There are two camps within the medical profession, one that says the RDA is correct, and another that says it is way too low. All we know for certain, is that there is argument among licensed physicians as to what the "correct" amount(s) are.

One of those MD's was Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, who won a Nobel Prize ! I read where he admitted to ingesting a gram a day of Iodide for an extended period. I think that many folks, even MD"s, would consider this a high amount, but then again, Szent-Gyorgyi lived to be 93. I've also read (the PDR) where PIMA(TM) syrup is still available to be given as an expectorant, in amounts which provide over a gram a day of potassium iodide.

On the other hand, I've read accounts where people take a couple drops of a solution of Lugols in water or a beverage, and experience negative effects , that some attribute to bromides coming out.

Which "camp" is correct ? I don't know ! I only know that there are two camps who don't agree, but I enjoy reading about it. It is interesting that the populations having the highest Iodine intakes have the lowest cancer rates. It is all, fascinating.

If anyone asked me what to do, my answer is to have an Iodine loading test done and report the results to their MD. The test kits are only about $ 100. I believe Jorge Flechas in North Carolina offers them.
