I've only ever tried magnesium glycinate, which did seem to help reduce muscle twitching and cramping that I was having. It also helped a little with anxiety.
Just read this morning that the KAL brand of magnesium glycinate is more glycinate than it is magnesium, making me wonder about the Vital Life brand I was using. It doesn't say how much elemental magnesium it contains.
But I have mostly gotten away from dosing any particular mineral individually. Seemed to create more problems than it solved. I just take a multi-mineral now. For a long while, I didn't believe in vitamins either, thinking that I could get them out of whole foods, but I started feeling a little more energy when I started taking a very basic multi-vitamin/B-complex.
For some reason the high-potency vitamin/mineral/amino combos send me off the deep end emotionally.
