In a way, this is simple. Negative thoughts and ideas often contribute to poor health and a lack of well-being. Positive thoughts and ideas cause the production of various substances in the brain and elsewhere that can energize not only the immune system but the entire body.

The absolute best aids to healing and good health in general are fresh air, blue sky, sunshine, and exercise. Poeple with terminal conditions who get these basics live 2 to 4 times as long as those who do not, all other conditions being equal.

So just being told that something really works can make a significant difference in its effects. A generally accepted formula for the placebo effect is that 30 to 32 percent of individuals will experience positive results from a placebo. This actually veries to a small extent with the amount of verbal reinforcement that is provided.
