And on the other hand...
Different tokes for different folks. What you say certainly makes sense, and we have seen the abuses that can go on by the use of different names. My favorite abuse for humor content is folks posting under one name, responding to themselves under another, and yet adding support by a third.
Yes, Spirit did ask us to have one name for
Support Forums , (which he said were the property of Curezone, another for debates, then we were also told to have other names for moderating, etc., etc.
Now, here's another twist: In my household I am not the only person who ever posts on Curezone, although certainly the one that's been here the most, (much to their chagrin for the time spent on the computer). When they post, they are using the same computer as me, but naturally under different names. Would I want them posting as Alikat? Whether I fully agree with whatever they are posting or not, the answer to that is =NO=!! I'm sure there are husband and wife teams around with the same situation. I'm reminded of 'kupraclassy'.
The problem seems to be in the apparent deception, however that's not something any of us can police out of other people, as it is merely a matter of concience.
In any case, I think the main problem here has been the posters who have been banned for reprehensible behavior being able to morph back in. If there were a way to limit posters from using more than one name it might take care of some of the problems, but it may add a few more of a different nature. Of course, I suppose someone always gets screwed when things get this complicated. At any rate, I wish I understood why the bans don't function on IP's rather than just usernames.
