Re: Demodex Mites

It is hard to get rid of parasites in general, because of the nature of the little critters. Read parasite Rex by Carl Zimmer to get an idea of what you are up agains.
There are many recommendations about how to cleanse parasites. Cherokee Indians day 10 days on, five days off, for ten rounds. If that doesn't get them all, do ten more rounds. Humanworm recommends every six months. The people who sell Clear say to cleanse for thirty days on, ninety days off, until you got them all.

It depends on the life cycle of the parasite you are cleansing. The goal is to to kill the adults, the stop cleansing for a while and wait for the eggs to hacth out. Eggs will not hatch out when their is poison in your system, or when the mother that laid them is still alive. With regard to some parasites (not sure about demodex) The mother puts out a hormone that prevents them from hatching while she is alive. This is so they won't compete with her for food. They also respond to dewormers in the same way as the mother's hormone and lay dormant, waiting for it to leave your body, before they hatch out. That is why you must be prepared to follow up with another dose, and another one, and another one, if necessary, until they are all gone. If you don't, you could end up with more parasites than you started with, because some of them lay thousands of eggs.

The goal is to kill the hatchlings before they have a chance to mate and lay eggs. How frequently you deworm depends on the life cycle of the parasite you are eradicating. The Demodex Mite life span is approximely 15-17 hours. That is why you need to apply the medicine twice daily. And you need to do so religiously until your face clears. It will take approximately six months, for some people it can take eight months. After that you can switch to cleaning your face with cold cream twice daily and it will prevent them from returning by suffocating them before they have a chance to reinfect you. If you do not apply the medicine twice daily, you could breed a strain fo them that are resistant to treatment and start spreading it around to people when you hug and kiss them. Because those mites will hop from one person to another.

I doubt you are going to find an easy way to deal with parasites. But if you do, please let me know.
