Re: Day 14 - Low Sugar Diet
Hey Kathryn,
Thanks for the tip on the Ab Lounger. I have been doing my back/stomach/butt exercises (gotta look good for my hubby) but I only do them when at the gym. I may consider getting that or at least trying to get into a daily habit rather than 2x a week habit. Mostly, I need to drop a few
pounds that cover my "good stomach", lol. I bet under that layer it's very nicely toned! heh heh...
And thanks for sharing details of your previous sweets attachment... I know what you mean, I would eat healthy, but then that banana bread or chocolate cake would call to me until I went for it. If we actually were dumb enough to get a pie or make apple crisp, we would end up having it for breakfast (yes breakfast) on a weekend! First thing in the morning...mmmm...apple crisp. Anyway, I TOTALLY relate. The thing I like best about this is less cravings. I just arranged for someone to buy craisins that I intended to eat. I just ate probably a heaping handful or a little more...but I saw second ingredient: sugar. So I'm giving the rest away. I'll have to stick to raisins... My husband and I had spoken before about eating bad only once or twice a week but we were never able to stick with it. I think without cravings I could hold off and be more sensible (of course we'll have to see) but I know now that he also craves. Last night he almost went out and got ice cream. I think because I've been so steadfast, it helps him. He fought it and ended up not going. If I weren't excluding dessert, we both would have gotten some for sure. So I'm glad we're both doing more to be healthy.
My daddy drove a Honda bike! We used to go look at bikes and he would wear a big "The Eagle Has Landed" Harley shirt. And he looks like a biker - fat, big scruffy beard...so the salesman asks him which bike he rides and he points out his Honda. The salesman says, "You're wearing the wrong shirt." My dad says, "Hey, Harley makes good shirts....!!!!" LOL my dad is so funny. :-D
It's cool you had a long post - I'm chatty too. It was really nice to hear about your journey with food - I've had something similar where going all raw will work but I was kind of eating constantly to compensate for the fact that I couldn't eat what I wanted... and in the end of course that didn't work. I am still training myself to be moderate (which only works for me when off sugar) but I think I'm making progress. I thought that about the constipation. I have found ways to kind of *force* the issue which I don't think is exactly the right thing to do and eventually you get tired of ingesting different unpleasant substances. I started this Activa yogurt and it is working so far. Perhaps that's why I feel like I've lost weight? (I'm weighing in again this weekend.) So maybe try that. I like the vanilla flavor, it's lower in sugar. Good luck and I'll chat w/you again soon.
Take care,
Ruth
