Re: Lichen Planus and Other Inflammatory Skin Diseases
Hi, I also have lichen Planus, though mine is only on the forearms and back of hands and not as severe as some. I feel mine was caused by chemicals and misqueto bites. I had a lot of them frozen off in South America but others erupted later. I have been slowly treating them with 1% Hydrocortisone cream which very slowly improves them. Recently I had a accident and received a second degree burn on the forearm in a small area. After the initial healing, to keep the burn area clean, I used Bag Balm ( 8-HYDROXY QUINOLINE SULFATE 0.3% in a petrolatum, lanolin base) used in the Dairy industry to soften cow's teats. After a few days of washing and applying twice a day, I noticed that the lichen planus nodules were slightly swelling and softening. So much that I can scrape them off with a fingernail. Of course this leaves a good wound ( which heals) I've been getting rid of all of them, even the very small ones which are almost too small to see withe unaided eye. I gently scrape the skin with my fingernail and the lichen plantus will cause a sharp pain so I can find them. Then I just scrape off with finger nail. I have a large tolerance for pain, as I do not feel pain like most others, so perhaps a local numbing or a doctor will be required. I don't know the long term results, perhaps I should do the cleaning diet.
