Well, I guess he's honest... I can't believe he didn't refer you to someone else. If you're anywhere near a medical school, you might try finding a university based dermatologist. The professors, the ones involved in research... the big guns. They might get a publication out of it :).

Even if they can't see you, they should be able to make an informed referral.
