I haven't been overly impressed with the quality of his responses. It's an online consultation thing (unless you actually live in his area). I'd hate to send them the $25 or $50 and get a pat "ex cheilitis" explanation... thank you, drive through.
Did you ever call the last doc back (the one who was so sure you wouldn't need a follow-up)? He's at least seen you, and he might be able to refer you if he's out of ideas. I had to go through 3-4 doctors before I finally got an appointment with a hand surgeon (unrelated problem, mostly). He was able to diagnose an infection I'd been fighting for months in a few minutes. Changed my medication and had it healing in days. He was also the first doctor who didn't want to cut my hand open... The point is, the right specialist can make all the difference but you may have to go through some hoops to get to them.
