I don't know if various parasites 'do' anything in the heart area, but in my reading many different kinds seem to pass through the heart or nearby, at some stage.
Blood, of course, goes through the heart, and I think I remember reading that lymph empties somewhere in the vicinity.
Probably it is very lucky that our livers, and other organs, are on duty.
