Ho hum

There's a news site that I frequent, www.cosmiverse.com, which hosts news on space, science, technology, and "off the beaten path" (paranormal, for example).

I'm amused at the frequency with which the "science" section will have some "study" showing one thing one week, only to be followed up a week later with another "study" which shows exactly the opposite. Recent study pairs include studies on vitamins (one study shows taking a multivitamin daily has benefits, another study showing that vitamins provide no benefit whatsoever) and premarital cohabitation (one study showing that it's bad, another showing that it's good).

The point? People will "find" the information that they want to find. The truth IS out there. But my truth isn't necessarily the same as your truth.

There are people for whom gallbladder surgery is the right choice. Now, there are consequences associated with every choice we can make, and many of us can look at the consequences of gallbladder surgery and decide that the consequences just aren't worth it. But there are plenty of people who don't really care. They want their quick fix now. They want to hold onto their lifestyles, be victims to medicine, take the "easy" way out, or whatever their particular games happen to be.

This "Chet" guy is merely serving the opposite viewpoint. There are plenty of people who want to be told that Liver Flushing is dangerous, to help justify their choice to go whatever route they ultimately choose to take.

This is totally OK.

I would much rather have somebody have their gallbladder removed and be able to tell them "I told you so" (assuming I ever talk to them at all) than to have that somebody go through the liver flush, do a half-assed job at it, and become a firm believer in how bad Liver Flushes are, even though you and I know the only way to botch a Liver Flush is to botch a liver flush.

It's not my job to save people. I am no longer in the game of self sacrifice. And I don't take it personally when someone -- even someone I care about -- chooses to do something I know will hurt them. Every one of us has our breaking point -- that moment when we finally decide we've had enough of the bullshit. I know for a fact that no one -- NO ONE -- could help me until I was willing to help myself. No one could make me see or understand anything that I was not willing to see. And believe me, the kinds of bizarre, silly, laughable bullshit I had to go through to reach that point makes Melrose Place look like Sesame Street.

Or don't believe me. *grin*

If someone needs to play medical victim in order to get the point, then that's what they need to do. If someone wants to live the rest of his life with digestion problems, I have no problem with that at all. If someone is perfectly capable of having his gallbladder removed without any perceptible negative effects on his health (hey, I guess it could be possible...), then that's fine, too.

I look at CureZone as a place for those who want to find a better way -- personal responsibility for one's own health -- to find it. I don't look at this as a political agenda that I need to force on others. Thus, I have no issue with this "Chet" fellow.

To me, the best we can do is to continue posting our successes here and to support this site. The people who want to know what we can do will find us (there is nothing so potent as an idea whose time has come). Those who want to find fault with our methods can have their "proof" that our methods are bad (there is none who is so blind as him who will not see). Ignore the opposition. It only seeks to distract us from our own truths, but it can only achieve its goal if we agree to the distraction by seeking to counter it.
