Consuming Iodine

I've been surfing these messages here and on earthclinic.com for over a week now. I have been painting Iodine for about three weeks, but my temp is always 95-96 degress average. I want to try taking the Iodine drops internally.

My question is, is the Iodine you consume the same iodine that you paint with? I don't want to consume something that will poison me. The stuff I paint with, I bought at our local CVS Pharmacy and it has others things in it besides iodine. I would imagine that isn't for internal use.

Would the safe thing to do be to buy Lugol's iodine to consume? Since I get the idea that no iodine is 'intended for internal use' how can I know which to use?

Also, with the new regs coming down in July, should I stockpile iodine now?
