Re: Thank You Ginseng!! Sounds easy enough. n/m

Hi Been There,

Well, first of all, thanks for the info, I do appreciate it.

However, I have to admit I feel a bit defensive reading some of it. I was raised Catholic, and while I do not practice Catholicism as an adult, I am bristling a tad at the insinuation that Catholics are not "as good" at being Christians as Protestants. The beliefs are different in some ways, but my stance that I have shared here many times (regarding any religion) is that the faction being misled is largely a matter of opinion, and I never intended my query to become an argument of the "rightness" of catholicism vs. protestantism. My family as far back as I can recall did the open casket. While I have mixed feelings about it on some level, and asgree with it not being the best for children, on the other hand being able to see my mom when she passed away did give great comfort, as I had traveled 3000 miles to her funeral, and had not seen her in over a year before then. While you may view these traditions as ungodly, they are deeply important as a symbol of devotion to those who practice them

This is my aunt who passed at age 90, and a devout Catholic, so i am much more concerned with following the wishes and traditions of her family at this time than I am of my own comfort level with them.

I was really just looking for some practical advice that I thought some here may know about at a sad time in my life.

Thanks.
