Re: Anyone ever able to stop Thyroid meds?
I'm having trouble following the timeline of all those factors over the last 18 months, but here's something to think about. It might not be the kelp; it might be sulphur. Cabbage is high in sulphur; the moreless protocol includes sulphur (
Epsom Salts ). Another factor in the timeline is sunshine -- Vitamin D is typically known for bringing up calcium and phosphorus levels, but there is also a little known form of Vitamin D that brings up sulphur.
For a lucky few of us, sulphur seems to rob the thyroid of iodine. For me in particular,
Iodine supplementation used up my sulphur, and sulphur supplementation used up my iodine. There was a period of about 3 weeks were I had sulphur exactly right -- I felt great and didn't need my Armour -- but when I continued to take sulphur other problems developed.

I am coming to accept that for me this is genetic. (Although I really need to explore the Vitamin D/sulphur connection further as I don't get out in the sun much. Maybe the body can self-regulate sulphur levels using its own Vitamin D/sulphur mechanism so it doesn't interfer with iodine.) When I try to manage it myself by changing my diet or using supplements, I don't seem to get enough physical signals to know when my thyroid is on/low/off. I'm starting to feel I might just be better off just taking the Armour and not wavering between these different states.
Pretty frustrating since everything that I've done in the last year to try to improve my health and get off Armour has just brought me back around full circle to staying on it.
Best wishes,
