If the recipients become REAL people, and the attacks are done knowingly and contain demonstrably false information and are intended to inflict harm and defame, and the behaviour is repeated over time, it puts it into an entirely different arena.

Merely because information may be public, does not confer a license to harm, as wombat pointed out.

I see no reason for that to be tolerated, as there is no benefit conferred by it.

The effects of this have been a burden to many forums, as many have borne witness to.
