I would say without a doubt it has caused an infection. Do you have any biologic dentists in your area? She may need checking out by one of them experienced in this. They may need to open up the area and clean it out properly. She may need Antibiotics yes, but if there is an ongoing problem there, she'll need the area open, checked and cleaned, as well as Antibiotics Im sure.
