Re: Endometriosis & Mirena

I am seeing this fabulous holistic nurse, and these are the things that have almost completely cleared up my sypmtoms.
1) I got tested for progesterone, and was very very low, so am now supplementing with bioidentical hormones.
2) She said that they've just come out with a study that she said looked hopeful, and she is having me take 30 mg. of Pycnogenol 2X/day.
3)The weirdest and most miraculous was to stop wearing tampons. I couldn't imagine what difference that would make, and couldn't imagine wearing pads when I was changing a SPlus tampon every 45 minutes. My bleeding decreased by ***90%***! Not kidding! I was in shock! Plus I only had 1 day of "heavy" bleeding, instead of 3 days. She said that it works for some people, but not everyone. Something about not releasing the blood which has a kind of protein that causes you to bleed more. Also, I wonder if the friction of constantly changing tampons is an irritant. She said that if the pad-thing works, then to try a menstrual-cup, and for some people it stays light, and for others the cramping and heavy bleeding come back.

I hope this works for you. If my symptoms clear up, is the endometriosis gone? Who cares! =)
There are interesting discussions about tampons and side-effects on

http://menstrualcups.org/.
Haven't used the cup yet, wish me luck.

Best wishes
