Leave your low self-esteem behind (discard it).

"forgetting" is a very misunderstood part of healing emotionally. The word "forget" is technically only possible if a person has amnesia. It is by using this word that we set ourselves up for failure. We end up feeling like a failure and we feel that it is impossible (because it really IS impossible) to achieve closure until we choose to become INDIFFERENT towards the situation. The problem is that no one who has a warm, loving heart will ever really have the ability (let alone the desire) to be indifferent (especially about such an important matter) about anything.

So, you see, it is important to redefine the requirement that is necessary for closure (healing) because it is simply impossible for any human being with a fully functional brain to actually FORGET. Never "forget" the past (lest you end up repeating it). The past is where you came from and what made you who you (SELF) are. Don't regret who you/"SELF" are, embrace who you are (know yourself, be yourself,...be INTEGRAL/whole so that how and what you think is also who you are). Regretting who you are and where you came from is self-hatred (it's like cursing the ground that you walk on). I like who you are (a warm person who can feel "hurt" and heartache) and so should you like who you are.

Your past will always be part of who you are today and in the future. Your past will LAST, but you don't have to carry/drag it around with you so that it drags you down (it is over and done, but you have LEARNED things from it and GROWN).

Everyone makes mistakes, but few (only those with a warm heart) will actually have the ability to LEARN FROM THEM (consider yourself blessed).
