She is seeing her reflection in the window and thinks it is another bird so she is trying to attack it in defense. That is why she stopped once it got dark, there was no more refection in the window. It happens everyday all over the world where a bird sees its refection in the window. I wouldn't look to deep for some profound message, I would just move the feeder away from the window or you could put some sort of screan up over it.
