I have a bird feeder that is about a foot away from my window. I've been putting feed out all winter and have enjoyed watching the birds. The cardinal is my favorite and as most of us know, if you see the male, the female is near by and vis versa. Yesterday afternoon the female started flying into my window. She has not attempted to feed. She just keeps flying that foot from the feeder into my window. She did it all afternoon until dark. She is here again....flying over and over into my window, constantly tapping her beak into it. I thought she may have lost her mate and could see a reflection (she must be seeing a reflection of the feeder or trees in the background) but today the vibrant red male sat on the bird feeder, got some seed, and just seemed to watch helplessly. He didn't stay long. When I walk up to the window, she flies away but then comes back and starts banging all over again....over and over. Since I tend to be a spiritual person and tend to think things happen for a reason, I thought I would ask what your thoughts were. Could there be some kind of message there for me that I just can't interpret?
