The drugs used to lower cholesterol prevent the liver from making CoQ10 which is made in the liver and has many anti-oxidant functions the critical one being that it protects the heart. In the 80's when they first made the cholesterol drug they included CoQ10 in the drug because they new it blocked the production. They took out the CoQ10 to save money and now they are being sued for billions.
