It's a good question. I think most people are afraid of the unknown, and when they first learn about their iodine-deficient state, they want to go slow and take one or two drops of it and wait and see what happens.
But, on the other hand, if a doctor prescribes PIMA(R) syrup and commands a person to take 300 mg of the potassium
Iodide thrice daily, they figure that since the doctor told them, that it's ok, and there is no problem.
I started on higher levels of iodide, with only a brief spell of sneezing and headache, no problem.
I think that by going slowly, a lot of folks are needlessly exposing themselves to discomforts and extending their misery.
On the other hand, I understand that people like to move slowly in unknown territory. Walking too quickly into a mangrove can be deadly.
To each their own.
