Hmmm, some peels are bitter, but I've never dreamed of peeling beets (or other root goodies), as SO much nutrition is in the skins.

Are beet roots bitter to you/others? I've never tasted anything but 'sweet' and 'dirt' in beets or beet juice.

I have an Omega Juicer 8005 (and a vintage reamer type/handle-lever juicer). I can't imagine being able to put a rock hard beet in that thing and expect to get juice. The only think I'd expect to get is a MESS! ('m really good at messes :)

What you say about marmalade/bitter in regards to orange peels is VERY true. Occasionally (VERY occasionally) I juice the whole citrus (to get the pectin from the skins), but it's not very tasty (to me).

As you can tell, I don't do much juicing for 'taste' reasons only (although I do have my favorites...celery/whole pineapple 'straight' (or with a splash of oj and a handful of something deep green for variety) is at the top of my list currently.

Juice ON!
