Re: someone have a list on how to contact DC reps?
Hi,
http://www.house.gov/house/MemStateSearch.shtml
http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?OrderBy=st...
There are lists of each member of the HOR/USS by state. You can make envelopes and send to:
The Hon. XYZ ABC
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515
The Hon. XYZ ABC
U.S. Senate
Washington, DC 20510
Do not put a building/room number on the envelope. This can cause a delay or confusion.
Another option is to go to your local reps' home pages and look at their district office address and send your letter there.
Another powerful thing to do is to go to house.gov or senate.gov and look at the committees and contact committee members.
http://agriculture.senate.gov/
that's senate side -- ag, nutrition, forestry, with the subcommittee:
http://agriculture.senate.gov/sub.htm
Subcommittee on Nutrition and Food Assistance, Sustainable and Organic Agriculture, and General Legislation (Jurisdiction: Legislation and oversight involving domestic and international nutrition and food assistance and hunger prevention; farm viability; sustainable and organic food production; trading of futures, options and financial derivatives; pesticides; general legislation.)
there is also health, education, labor and pensions.
similar committees exist on the house side although they are not always called the same thing.
You really get a bigger bang for your buck if you write to committee members and their committee staffs about an issue. At a congressional office, much of the staff's day-to-day work has to do with big stuff, helping constituents, etc. the real nitty-gritty of making decisions, working on bills, and pushing legislation through the process is done at the committee level. senior committee staff are often paid more than representatives and senators because of their expertise in working with legislation!
I hope this is helpful.
