Re: Afraid of losing my natural birth plan by delivering at hospital.
Hi, I had my appointment today and discussed some of these things with my doctor but not everything yet. He left me feeling a lot more reassured about his philosophy on birth and that it is a natural process and there isn't anything wrong with having a baby and it is best to let nature take its course. He did suggest that I don't completely disregard some procedures in the case of an emergency, which I agree, but neither my Dr. or I think I will have any real problems, but you never know!
As for the
Antibiotic eye treatments he did try to convince me that there is little side effect for what they use and did say it is their "policy" but I will ask about a waiver for this and the other procedures. I need to be more firm now, not in the delivery room!
I am also going to visit the hospital next week and will speak to the nurses about what they like to see in a birth plan. I also don't know if you can avoid having your baby sent to the nursery and instead have then checked out right in your room. Unless I have very serious problems I want to be the one to take care of my baby, with help from my partner and family of course. I also hope to be able to leave the hospital the same day, again, unless there are issues.
Thank you all for your support and suggestions!
