Re: giardia and salmonella

Unless you have a particular issue with the water in your well that your water company is aware of the UV light should be sufficient provided that there is some kind of filter, as otherwise bacteria & other wee beasties can hide behind particles/cloudy bits in the water & not get hit by the UV light. Reverse osmosis is a good idea but if your water is sufficiently filtered & UV'd it shouldn't make any difference. Certainly if you are distilling your water it'll kill just about anything in it. I would do without the carbon filter though as all these do is add wee particles to the already clean water.

CS certainly should kill salmonella, I don't know about the Giardia, though of course if it is pink there seems to be a problem somewhere so that is probably the reason it isn't working. I have no idea why your cs is coming out pink, you might want to try making cs with water from another source you've distilled & distilled water from a store. That way you'll be able to narrow down whether the problem is with the CS generator, your well water or the water distiller.

By the way, if the cs comes out pink don't throw it down the drain pour it on your plants. It'll benefit them as they don't need as pure cs as people, & dogs, do & any beasties won't bother them.

Exile.
