Re: Coconut Oil...
I used Nutiva coconut oil -but not for my gums. I used it on my skin, in my foods, and for frying eggs or french toast even- because it does not turn toxic when used for cooking- as other oils do.
It also helps the body lose weight--something about the body needing to burn more metabolism to process it . I love it!
Using it on the gums sounds interesting- and something that I can see actually helping the gums.
Do you have any metal fillings in your mouth? After I had all my metal fillings replaced, my gums gradually sprung back to health- I also used a Dental Chelat mouthwash months after the removals to further chelate out any nano-particles of mercury.

What you may want to use along with the coconut oil is Dr. Tung's gum massage ointment--which is all natural and herbal. Rub that on the gums before bed. Also, you can get a gum massager (with extra rubber points) for only $9.99-- that helps the gums as well.
They also sell those ionic toothbrushes that use ions to pull plaque from deep inside the gumline- I have one and love it-- they are about $29.99 and come with extra toothbrush heads -- and you can order more heads when you run out. I noticed a big difference after using this brush in the clean feeling of my teeth--and the $9.99 tooth massager vibrates and actually feels great on the gums.

In the meantime, I do think that the coconut oil is something worthy of using for the gums - you may see some improvement with that!
