Scattering of parasites - possible solution/prevention here
Just as I decided that I wanted to do a
parasite cleanse, I read these couple of messages about scattered parasites... and don't really see anyone having a clue as to what needs to be done. This scatter problem scared me enough that I spent almost all night at my computer digging around net looking for a solution. It has also made me graduate to a "poster" from "lurker" :-)
So I did a little bit of my own research and here's what I found (besides asking the obvious question: would zapping help?)
There are a few pharmaceutical drugs that treat worms. I don't think that they are applied correctly as most are given only in one doze; even I know that a life cycle for Ascari worm is very long, I think close to two months. So I assume that one cannot get stellar results by taking only one dose. However, perhaps a repeated dose, taken once a week for a couple of months could help?
Now, among these pharma drugs, there is one that stands out when trying to find a prevention for scattering - Piperazine. Here's a bit about it from wikipedia:
"Piperazine (C4H10N2.C6H10O4). A flaccid paralyzing agent that causes a blocking response of
Ascaris muscle to acetylcholine. The narcotizing effect immobilizes the worm, which prevents migration when treatment is accomplished with weak drugs such as thiabendazole. If used by itself it causes the worm to be passed out in the feces. Dosage is 75 mg/kg (max 3.5 g) as a single oral dose."
So it seems that if I take piperazine first, and then start my
parasite cleanse, the
parasites would be paralized first, therefore easily expelled and above all - wouldn't be able to move anywhere.
Sounds nice, how does it sound to you folks? Anyone, anyone? Bueller?
