Hi wombat! this has been the most pleasant winter of my life, talking about external conditions I mean. Once you've tried the nordic winter, with meters of snow reflecting the most impossible colors of the sky, you really can't get back to any other of those grey dark winters of the other places!(a part from the tropical winters, which are not properly winters , so...)
the very best is going out in the middle of the night with full moon and dive in these really magic reflections... hmmm, un-earthly...
