eco-floor

Hello everybody! been a while since my last post. Hope you're all fine.

I wondered if anybody knows any informative site on ecological how do you call it, housing? we are changing the floor and don't know how the wood should be treated, it goes without saying that at the shop they suggest the most weird products.
We would like to darken the wood (are pigments and water ok?) and wax/oil it. We have a 2 yo child so it should be not a too delicate floor. As I live in Norway and we are not likely to have the same brands that you have in US, it would be nice to have tips on the materials more than on the specific products.
