In the past, I have tried being a vegetarian and even a fruitarian, but it didn't work for me (high blood pressure, nervousness, weight gain...). Being a protein metabolic type, I now eat a substantial amount of meat and I don't believe there's anything wrong with meat in itself.
Also, there's nothing wrong with saturated fats, the dangerous fats are the transfats. Many studies mix up saturated fats and transfats, and as such don't prove anything about saturated fats in themselves.
The only con to meat eating that I see is the poor quality of the average meat that you find in the supermarket. It is important to eat as much free range meat as possible, not to overcook it (or even eat it raw if it's of very good quality) and to stay away from processed meats.
