I started out as a raw vegan for four years. I had some great healing, but after a while I started to have problems, mainly with having a normal period. I started eating more protein and was fine after that. I now eat whey protein powder, eggs, and fish. I am considering going back to eating lean meats because it seems silly that I'm often eating the fake soy version of these things.
I originally cut out meats because I saw so many studies that showed vegetarians were healthier. I have started looking into it again, and I'm wondering if it's not really the meat itself that's harmful, but the fat content in the meat. In other words, I think it is the fatty, red meats that are causing major diseases because they are high in saturated fat. I have not seen many things that indicate meat itself is bad. I was wondering if anyone had seen any evidence as to why consuming meat could be harmful.
Any insights would be much appreciated. Thanks!
