flaxseed oil for infants

My daughter is 2 weeks old. It is my understanding that constipation in infancy is defined by constitency and NOT frequency of stooling. My baby seems to be having difficulties passing stools, although she does not seem to be constipated (meaning her stools are NOT hard nor pellet like). However, my baby seems very distressed (grunting and straining with abdominal distention),which is relieved following a glycerin supposoritory. I hate to see her is such pain and I do not wish to give her a daily supposoritory. I have read that flaxseed oil in small amounts can help with such problems.

Thus my question is....IS 2 weeks to young to start giving her 1/2 tsp of flaxseed oil to my infant as a preventive measure??????

Thanks in advance for any responses!
