Trying to get off blood pressure medications

Hello,
I am a nursing mother and I have been taking labetalol since my pregnancy. I actually had high bp before I got pregnant, but getting pregnant forced me to take care of it. Well the doctors swear up and down that this medication will not affect my son or my un born baby if I am to become pregnant again. I just have a hard time believeing this. I would rather be off the medication. I am about 50 pounds over weight and I am working on losing this weight by walking and eating healhy. My son is 14 months so he doesn't nurse as often as he used to. Well I was wondering if oral chelation therapy can correct my blood pressure problem??? I am scared of what the long term effects of taking this medication are? I have yet to have any side effects but I notice if I forget any doseage that I start to feel weird. How on earth that I control my high BP naturally and stop taking this medication? I just need some direction.

Thank you

Sarah
