I want to have a period!!!!

hi all...I feel hopeless... I'm 24 and can't get a period. I'm not sure what is wrong with me. I started whenI was 16 and they were very heavy so I went on the pill to regulate which now I know was a mistake. I went 8 months wihtout a period...that can't be healthy! Now the only way I bleed at all is if I'm on the pill. I refuse to go back on that poison. Anyone know where i can go from here???
