Re: What does 1111 mean?

For people who may find this a potentially un-nerving phenom, there are some simple ways to minimize it. Use something, clocks on the wall or on one's wrist, for instance, more analog in nature.

The clocks on my wall are quartz-driven IE> digital, but the displays are analog style hours/minutes/second hands plus fixed nummerals 1 thru 12. If I stand close enough, I can actually see (and hear) the feint digital click click click rather than seeing a genuine constant analog flow. I generally don't stand this close except for that one day when I did just to find out if I could notice the feint digital clicking of my half-breed analog clock! ;) When I routinely glance at these clocks, even if it might be exactly 11:11, by these particular representations, 11:11 only lasts for one second, so I'm not likely to percieve it as precisely 11:11, but instead, I'm more likely to glance and think "oh, it's 11:10" even when it's 11:12, or 11:11 or 11:09. This is an example of how there can be benefits to farsighted-ness :) Digital devices with digital displays are prone to displaying whatever they display - like 11:11, for a full 60 seconds.... all the more opportunity to spook you my dear Red Riding Hood. As for modern electro gadgetry that includes cellphones, TVs, cable boxes, microwave ovens, there does not seem to be many old-fashioned choices other than doing without.
