Thank you for your update! I am glad you are feeling better. I have had my mirena for 1 1/2 years and after finding this site I realized I was not crazy and the mirena could be causing my many symptoms. I have made my appointment for removal. I work as an RN in labor and delivery and the other night I asked some of the ob doctors if any of there patients have complained about the mirena and reluctantly told one doctor my symptoms and she said that she has not had anyone with complaints but did say one person removed it because she thought it was causing weight gain but after removing it decided it was not the mirena and put it back in. She continued to say that she just had the mirena placed and that people think it is wonderful. I went on to say to her that isn't it possible that some of the hormone is getting in the bloodstream and she did not think so and stated that it is isolated to the uterus.I also brought up norplant and the similar hormones used and she immediately said a little sarcastic that that was in the arm and therefore the hormone in that iud was systemic. I felt weary about my decision to remove this iud, but deep down I truly believe that some hormones are circulating and that everyone reacts differenty to hormones. I have not had a period the whole time and that just not seem natural! I know that doctors think we are crazy and creating our symptoms, but I know deep down that the mirena is the cause. Just like many other drugs, they cannot predict long term side effects and someday may come back and say that this iud was harmful and I am not going to take the chance. Thanks
